Dog training - dog obedience classes
Almost all dogs can benefit from dog obedience classes. I used to think that an obedience class would make my dog into some kind of a robot and take away his personality. Was I ever wrong!
This kind of training creates a firm bond between you and your dog. It makes him or her pay attention better and be more "in tune" with you than ever before. And some dogs love to go to school!
My Suzie is one of those. Each Saturday when we drove up to the building where dog obedience class was held she couldn't contain her excitement or her enthusiasm to get out of the car and inside.
Suzie loved obedience class so much that I enrolled her in dog agility next. She got so enthused about the running and jumping that when I went over to a table to pick out a new leash for her, she jumped right up on the table! After classes were finished we built a dog agility jump for her to use at home, and she still loves it.
Taking your pet to dog obedience class is also a safety measure for the dog. Knowing when to sit or to come when called could save his or her life someday. Knowing better than to rush out an open door could keep him from being lost. And knowing "off" can keep him from making enemies of all your friends.
